Welcome!

The Health Net Cup is a virtual bowling tournament held at senior centers and senior living communities across the west coast.

Instead of wooden lanes and pins, seniors hit the virtual lanes using Nintendo's Wii™ game system. The basic rules of the tournament are the same as in regular bowling. Health Net is organizing the tournaments and providing volunteers.

Round two of Health Net Cup came to a close in Vancouver at the Quarry Senior Living Center on Monday, July 30. Three teams participated in the exciting tournament from 3 different local senior centers:
  • The Quarry Senior Living at Columbia Tech Center - “The Quarry Rocks!”
  • Firstenburg Community Center - “Fantastic Firstenburg”
  • Merrill Gardens at Orchards Village - “Village People”
The Vancouver event was very exciting and competition was fierce between the Fantastic Firstenburgs, The Quarry Rocks and the Village People. However, The Village People were the most consistent and they won the tournament with a team score of 741. Second place went to The Quarry with a respectable team score of 719.

In terms of top personal scores, Lucy from The Village People bowled a 224 for a team high and Mark from the The Quarry Rocks bowled a 225 for the overall high score for the event.

Health Net Cup, a unique bowling tournament that allows seniors to work towards getting moving and healthy without lifting heavy bowling balls or putting on smelly shoes, has been a success thus far and we look forward to the final tournament this month.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the upcoming event on Friday, August 10!
